Bumrah’s Status Confirmed as India Announce ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Squad
Two-time winners India have announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. After triumphing in 2002 and 2013, India will be eyeing their third title under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who missed a part of the Sydney Test due to injury, has been included in the squad. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar emphasized that the team management would monitor Bumrah’s fitness closely in the lead-up to the tournament.
Bumrah has been in excellent form recently, having played a crucial role in India’s successful campaign in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
To cover for Bumrah’s fitness concerns, Harshit Rana has been added to India’s squad for the England ODIs preceding the Champions Trophy.
At the top of the order, Yashasvi Jaiswal joins regulars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill. The middle order consists of experienced players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant.
Hardik Pandya, who hasn’t played an ODI since the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, returns as the sole pace-bowling all-rounder. Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar will form the spin-bowling all-rounders, while left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav also makes his return after an injury layoff.
India’s pace attack will include Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Shami, alongside Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
