India has officially confirmed its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The squad includes star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who had been dealing with an injury and missed a portion of the Sydney Test. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Bumrah’s fitness will be closely monitored in the lead-up to the tournament. Bumrah’s recent form in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament, adds confidence to his inclusion.
In preparation for the Champions Trophy, Harshit Rana has been included in the squad for the England ODIs as cover for Bumrah, taking into account any fitness concerns.
The Indian squad features several top names, including Rohit Sharma (captain), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya, returning after a break, will be the sole pace-bowling all-rounder, while Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar provide spin-bowling options. Kuldeep Yadav returns after injury to complete the bowling attack, which includes Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Pandya.
India will aim for a third Champions Trophy title, after winning in 2002 and 2013. Their last appearance in the final was in 2017, where they were defeated by Pakistan.
