Jasprit Bumrah Undergoes Scans Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for scans on his injured back, as reported by Indian media. Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is now in doubt due to the injury, which he sustained during the final Test of India’s recent five-match series against Australia.

Bumrah, a key member of India’s Champions Trophy squad, will remain at the NCA for two to three days while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team assesses the severity of the injury. Once the assessment is complete, NCA specialists will submit their findings to the senior men’s selection committee, chaired by Ajit Agarkar.

The pacer was initially expected to miss the first two ODIs of the three-match series against England. However, there were hopes that he could return for the final match to regain some match fitness before the Champions Trophy.

During the squad announcement, India’s head selector had stated, “Bumrah has been advised to rest for five weeks and won’t be available for the first two ODIs against England. We are waiting on his fitness and will have more clarity in early February from the medical team.”

The final decision on Bumrah’s participation in the Champions Trophy will depend on his recovery. If he fails to regain full fitness in time, he is likely to be replaced by Harshit Rana.
